baby bed rails Discussions| I May Need A Baby Bed or Bed Rails... | | Well, my Mom is now threatening me…with a baby bed!! She is insisting that she is either going to buy me a baby bed or bed rails to keep me from falling out of our bed. The other night I remember waking up to go to the bathroom and starting to get up, the next thing I knew I was on the floor between the bed and wall on my hands and knees and my arm was throbbing where I’d hit it on the wood frame of our bed (it’s a waterbed). It hasn’t bruised yet but I can feel it so I know I’ll have a doozy of one before long. This isn’t the first time I’ve fallen either…not long ago I got up to go to the bathroom and suddenly it was like my left leg just disappeared. I mean it really felt like it wasn’t there at all. It threw me off balance and I came about 6” from going head first through our bedroom window. I don’t know if the disappearing feeling has anything to do with my diabetes or if it’s just some freaky thing.I’ve thought about moving the bed but it’s really hard to get in and out of with one side against the wall and it’s a nightmare to put the sheets on when it’s against the wall. My Mom is worried that I’m going to...

| | Baby Bed Matresses | | I read in a NewsMax magazine a couple of months ago that the baby bed matresses are bad for babies. It is said to affect the neurological developement of baby boys and make them have low sperm count and smaller male organs. I was wondering if anyone had read this . I guess it is good that my son does not use his baby bed and never has. | |

| | A Telephone Call | | Mrs. Jones was waiting for an important telephone call, but she had no bread in the house, so she left the baby at home and said to his five-year-old brother, "I'm going to the shops, Jimmy, and I will be back in a few minutes." While she was out, the telephone rang and Jimmy answered. "Hello," said a man, "is your mother there?" "No," answered Jimmy. "Well, when she comes back, say to her, "Mr. Baker telephoned." "What?" "Mr. Baker. Write it down. B-A-K-E-R." "How do you make a B?" "How do I make...? Listen, little boy, is there anybody else with you? Any borthers or sisters?" "My brother Billy is here." "Good, I want to talk to him, please." "All right." Jimmy took the telephone to the baby's bed and gave it to Billy. When their mother came back, she asked "Did anyone telephone?" "Yes," said Jimmy, "a man. But he only wanted to talk to Billy." | |

Stork Craft recalls more than 1 million baby cribs
TORONTO, Jan 13 (Reuters) - The Canadian company that makes the Stork Craft line of baby cribs is voluntarily recalling more than 1 million of them in Canada and the United States because of a potential suffocation hazard, authorities said on Tuesday.
The cribs were made by British Columbia-based Stork Craft Manufacturing Inc. They were sold at major retailers such as J.C. Penney (JCP.N), Kmart and Wal-Mart (WMT.N) between May 2000 and January 2009.
About 535,000 are being recalled in the United States and about 494,000 in Canada.
"The metal support brackets used to support the crib mattress and mattress board can crack and break," the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said on its website.
"When one or more support brackets break, the mattress can collapse and create a dangerous gap between the mattress and crib rails, in which a child can become entrapped and suffocate."
There have been at least 10 incidents in which one or more of the support...
| | When should I move my daughter from her crib to a bed? | | My daughter will be 18 months old on August 1st and she is around 33.5 inches tall. Her crib instructions say that the crib should not be used after the child is 35 inches tall. I can see good points and bad points both for leaving her in a crib and for moving her to a bed.
We have friends though who have a three and a half year old boy and a 9 month old girl. They did not move the boy to a bed until they were pregnant with the girl, which means the boy was around 2 and a half when they moved him. So I am a bit unsure of when to move my daughter. I was hoping to learn three things here:
1. What age are children commonly moved to a bed at?
2. What has been your personal experience with moving your children from cribs to beds?
3. Can you give any tips for making the transition any easier whenever I do it?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give;)
| | Walking around a cemetery that was started in the early 1800's | | We went over the weekend to Fernley NV and I walked to a cemetery that was started in the 1800's well at least that was the oldest headstone I would read. There was a lot of wooden grave markers that where no longer readable.
Some of the headstones where quite pretty and somewhere very simple I loved all of them. This cemetery is not kept up but I found a lot of history. A few of the head stones told us where the person was born. Some came from Ireland and some came from Scotland. One was the shape of a baby bed with a teddy bear in it. The baby was only a few months old when died. I only walked around 1/4 of cemetery. I did not have time to go back. I will be going back to NV and finishing my walk. While walking in the cemetery I felt all the peoples sorrow that was there. I did say a prayer for all that had passed through those gates, which had to bury a loved one. I also prayed for the spirits who where still lingering to follow the white light and pass on. Does anyone else love to walk around cemeteries? Do you feel the sorry or pick up on the spirits of the dead?

| | the New Cat | | As most of you know-Kristen is working at our local vet's office.
Today, she called me and asked if I would play surrogate to a 2 week old kitten whose mother had abandoned him. He has to be bottle fed and kept on a heating pad.
Of course, the tender hearted me said...yes
So, Oliver is now a member, at least temporarily of the Carpenter household.
Baby, our rat terrier is expecting babies. I am not sure if her motherly instincts have kicked in, or what...but she thinks this is one of her babies.
Earlier this afternoon, Oliver was in his little box, and was meowing pitifully. I came into the livingroom, and the cat was out of his box and in Baby's bed.
I picked him up, put him back in his box and left the room. A few minutes later, I returned to find Oliver being carried by the scruff of the neck by Baby. I watched her as she carried him across the room, put him back in the corner of her bed, and then climbed in beside him, and curled around him. He immediately calmed down and went to sleep.
Anyone else ever seen this happen? Do I let her mother him...or take the kitten away from her? She is still several weeks from her due date.
